Shaanxi coal mine accident claims 5 lives

  Five miners were killed in a gas explosion in an underground coal mine in Yan’an city in Shaanxi, Northwest China on Monday, according to a statement released by Baota district government in Yan’an on December 25.
  The accident occurred in the Guantun coal mine at about 9:50 am Beijing time on December 24. The five injured miners were eventually rescued from the scene of the explosion on Monday night and transported to the local hospital but none regained consciousness
