Jilin Longjiapu coal mine accident claims 9 lives
Nine miners were killed and another ten injured in an earthquake and cave-in at an underground coal mine operated by Jilin Longjiapu Mining in Changchun in Northeast China’s Jilin province on the night of June 9, according to a release by a local emergency management bureau directed by Changchun city government Monday.
The accident happened at around 8 pm Beijing time and was triggered by a 2.3 magnitude earthquake which trapped the 19 miners, the release noted, saying that ten could be rescued but nine miners died.
